By registering for or participating in an Out at Camp trip, event, activity, or gear-related program, you confirm that you have read and understood this participation waiver.
Participation and inherent risks
Outdoor activities can be rewarding, but they can also be physically, emotionally, and mentally challenging. Activities may involve risks including, but not limited to, slips, falls, cuts, sprains, strains, illness, injury, changing weather, cold or heat exposure, water hazards, uneven terrain, wildlife, transportation, equipment failure, limited services, and delayed emergency response.
You understand that these risks cannot be fully eliminated and that you are choosing to participate voluntarily.
Fitness, health, and readiness
You confirm that you are fit for the activity you are registering for, in sufficiently good health to participate, and responsible for deciding whether the activity is appropriate for you. This includes considering your physical health, mental health, comfort outdoors, swimming ability where relevant, medication needs, accessibility needs, dietary needs, and any other condition that may affect your participation or safety.
You agree to tell Out at Camp about relevant medical, accessibility, dietary, mental health, or support needs that organizers should know in order to help support a safer and more inclusive experience.
Participant responsibilities
You agree to act with care for yourself, other participants, volunteers, trip leaders, the public, and the places we visit. You agree to follow reasonable instructions from Out at Camp volunteers, trip leaders, venue staff, and outfitters; use equipment responsibly; stay within your abilities; and speak up if you feel unsafe, unwell, overwhelmed, or unable to continue.
Photography and media
You understand that photos or videos may be taken during Out at Camp activities. Out at Camp will make reasonable efforts to respect participant consent and privacy. If you do not want to be photographed or recorded, or if you need a photo removed from future use, you agree to tell an organizer as soon as possible.
Emergency support
In an emergency, you authorize Out at Camp volunteers or trip leaders to seek emergency medical, rescue, or other assistance for you when reasonably necessary. You understand that you remain responsible for any costs not covered by insurance, public health programs, or another third party.
Release of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release Out at Camp, its directors, volunteers, trip leaders, partners, and representatives from liability for claims, losses, damages, expenses, illness, injury, or other harm arising from your voluntary participation in Out at Camp activities, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.
