This trip is open to everyone, but we want to especially welcome our LGBTQ+ community. Let's come together and celebrate Victoria Day in style!

Dates

Orientation: May 14th at 6:00 PM at T's Pub (323 Somerset St W, Ottawa, ON K2P 0J8). Attendance at orientation is optional, but recommended, so that you can understand what to expect during the trip, as well as meeting your Adventure Guides and fellow campers.

Departure: May 18th to May 20th. Departure will be around 10:00 AM on May 18th, but is subject to change. Final departure time will be confirmed no later than a week out from the trip.

Transportation

We’ll be ferrying participants to and from the island via pontoon. If you have your own watercraft, you're welcome to bring it!

Specific meeting details for departure will be provided after registration. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to drive to the boat launch from the departure location. If you are driving your own car and transporting other campers, we will provide a reimbursement of $0.59/km.

Tents and bedding

You are expected to bring your own tent and bedding, or arrange sharing with someone. If you don't have a tent, and are unable to find a tent buddy, or if you don't have bedding, please let us know and we may have some spare tents and bedding available.

Meals

Group meals are catered, which includes snacks.

Activities

We'll have campfires every night, and group meals to enjoy each other's company. We also have some fun group activities planned throughout the trip.

Other activities include but are not limited to:

  • paddle boarding
  • canoeing
  • swimming
  • fishing (licence required)
  • connecting with nature
  • hiking
  • relaxing on the beach

Land Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we will be camping is the traditional territory of the Algonquin First Nation. We recognize the Algonquin people's ongoing connection to this land and their stewardship of it for thousands of years. We honour the elders, past, present, and future, and offer our gratitude for their continued care of the land.

As we enjoy the beauty and wonder of this land, we commit to respecting the land, water, animals, and all living beings that call this place home. We acknowledge the ongoing challenges faced by Indigenous communities and are committed to promoting reconciliation and creating a more just and equitable society.
